Dinand schreef een nieuwe blog over het KANE jaar 2004 op de KANE hyves. Hij schrijft over hun avonturen in het buitenland (in het bijzonder de UK) en het concert op het Java eiland te Amsterdam. DIT IS WAAR WE HET VOOR DOEN..

Gisteren smeet Dinand een nieuwe update op KANE.nl.
Zal het dan zo zijn dat misschien wel de twee fraaiste liedjes op onze aankomende plaat in nog geen tien minuten zijn geschreven en kwamen op een moment dat we het eigenlijk helemaal niet in de gaten hadden? Ik zeg ja. Ik teken er ook gelijk voor. De nieuwe KANE plaat gaat juist die kant op.
En zo wachten we gisteren heel even op Ivo die ietsje later was. Ik zat wat te klooien op Robin’s gitaar in een oefenruimte die veel te warm is, ook al om tien uur in de ochtend… Twee takes later hadden we er zo eentje. Drie minuten die zo maar uit de lucht lijkt te vallen en vervolgens iedereen verbaasd laat staan. Dit is waar het om gaat. Dat onvoorspelbare. Kadootjes van uit… tja van waar? Geen idee. Maar laat maar vallen hoor. Wij staan hier nog wel een paar weken. Yes! Dit is waar we het voor doen.
Misschien wel meer dan ooit. D.
Ps. We kregen vriendelijke tips van oude bekenden van ons die later de Zwarte Cross zijn begonnen. Iets over borst naar voren en altijd recht op je plek staan. Daar willen we ze toch nog even voor bedanken. Dat vinden wij ook belangrijk.
En mochten jullie crossers soms even bij ons op die rug willen klimmen om iets te zeggen, dan komen we samen van ver genoeg om te weten hoe dat moet. Yesterday Dinand slammed an New update on KANE.nl.
could it be that we’ve recorded the two best tracks on our next to be released album in less then 10 minutes at a moment we weren’t even paying attention ? Might be the case. Signing up for that. The New KANE album is what that’s all about.
yesterday we were waiting on Ivo to arrive, just a bit late he was. I was messing around with Robin’s guitar at our rehearsal room that felt like a sauna even when it only was 10 o’clock at morning… Two takes later we found it. Three minutes that came falling out of the sky and stunned everyone. That’s what it’s all about. That unpredictable thing. Gifts from… Where? No idea. But keep them coming. We’ll be here a few more weeks. Yes! That’s what we’re doing it for.

Ps. We got some friendly advice from old friends who started up the Zwarte Cross festival a while ago. On giving oneself airs and standing ground. We’d like to thank them for that. We think this is very important.

2004 – KANE flashback

Vanaf vandaag zet de KANE hyves de spotlight op het jaar 2004 net als wij op onze KANEpromoladies sites de KANE flashback op de voet volgen… Een aangepaste Hyves layout, officiële clips en fan opnames, een update geschreven door Dinand over wat er in 2004 zoal met de band en privé gebeurde is nu te vinden op de KANE hyves.
Gezocht: KANEfan collector items (foto’s, setlist, etc) uit 2004: KANE @ Rock Ternat, TMF awards Antwerpen, Marktrock Leuven, de Vooruit Gent en de Studio Brussel showcase (luchtballon) te Brussel.

Ook de KANEpromoladies kregen een uitnodiging voor de KANE fansite special gig in Rotterdam. Maar de ene lady zat nog bij de Denen, de andere lady was grieperig en deze lady twijfelde tussen alvast vertrekken richting Glastonbury of toch nog snel een KANE’tje meepikken. Met als resultaat dat we ook dit jaar de uitnodiging van de heren en dames moesten afwijzen. So we didn’t make it, again. Maar gelukkig gingen anderen – de vele enthousiaste fansite/hyves/blog webmasters – er wél heen en hebben zij in geuren en kleuren verslagen geschreven over dit exclusieve KANE concert met de mooiste sfeerfoto‘s en filmpjes natuurlijk. Exclusive FANSITE gig

The KANEpromoladies also received an invite for the KANE fansite special gig in Rotterdam. But one lady was still hanging with those Danes, the other had a spot of flu and this lady was in doubt whether to leave for Glastonbury or to get sweaty at KANE’s before leaving. And so it happened we declined the ladies and gents’ invite again this year. So we didn’t make it, again. But luckely others – the many enthusiastic fansite/hyves/blog webmasters – did go and they wrote colorfull reports about this exclusive KANE concert and took awesome pictures and made great recordings of that night. Vorige week smeet Dinand weer een nieuwe update op www.kane.nl/site :

SINGLES ONLY!? (weekboek deel 1, 19 juni 2009, 09:09 uur)

Zo dan. Nog een officiele gig morgen en we duiken door naar studioland. Het spelen is dit jaar wel echt heel tof, maar de meetmomenten blijken toch altijd weer de albums… We gaan beginnen aan het leeuwendeel van de opnames van album nummero 5. Een klein jaartje geleden kwam EVERYTHINGYOUWANT uit en eigenlijk wilden we gelijk door met opnemen. Dat gaat natuurlijk niet, want er zijn altijd de promo’s & livegigs die rondom zo’n release hangen. Niet te vergeten de tijd die iedereen thuis verdiend. Voor zo’n album ben je toch vaak weg en zeker voor EVERYTHINGYOUWANT waren we voor een periode van bijna twee jaar op en af op pad.
De nieuwe plaat kent het tegenovergestelde. We willen het hier doen. Met de mensen met wie we hier werken en alles wat we geleerd denken te hebben in die laatste 10 jaar (wel heel leuk om te zien dat de party op HYVES zo’n succes is!!!).

Kortom, het is de band die je ziet op het podium, die je ook gaat horen op het album. En het is het team achter ons dat inmiddels heel steady is (AT, UNIVERSAL & onze crew). Het voelt super goed met iedereen dicht om ons heen.
En dan dus de plaat. Gaat het in 2009 eigenlijk alleen nog maar om singles? Ja, ik denk het wel. Kijk op Itunes en je ziet dat bij elke plaat de singles by far het meest gedownload worden. Luister naar de radio en je hoort dat het alleen maar singles zijn, maar nu ook nog eens alleen maar als ze binnen het format van dat radiostation passen. Singles, singles, singles. Je wordt afgerekent op je singles. En singles alleen als downloads. Singles in de winkel zijn zo goed als dood. Wij gaan het misschien nog een keer wel doen. Gewoon, omdat het ook heel leuk is….

Dan moeten we singles hebben dus… En dat zou zo maar eens kunnen (eerst even kijken wat UNIVERSAL denkt). Wil ik je toch wel vertellen dat wij een heel album gaan maken ha, ha. U is gewaarschuwd! Nee ik zit maar wat te dollen. Ik ben ook voor singles, maar ook voor albums. Ik ben ook voor MP3’s, maar zeker meer voor echte goede geluidskwaliteit. Dus downloads prima, maar wil je de real deal, moet je toch echt straks ff die cd kopen! We hopen dat je dat wel doet, want dat hebben albums anno 2009 echt wel nodig…

Ik dwaal enorm af. Maakt niet uit, dat zal ik de komende weken als we in de studio zitten, blijven doen. Ik ga hier op KANE.NL een soort van weekboek bijhouden. Laat HYVES knallen met de terugblik, hier op KANE.NL kijken we vooruit en dat blijft toch echt mijn favoriete standje ha, ha.
Ik had het over onze nieuwe plaat. We begonnen een dik half jaar geleden met liedjes die we al hadden. Daar konden we al een nieuwe CD mee maken, maar dat was zeker niet goed geweest om daar al te stoppen. Zoals sommigen om ons heen stelden; ‘Dit is de nullijn, dit is het begin’. En zo is het. De zoektocht naar inspiratie & momenten was begonnen. Nu een tijdje verder zijn behoorlijk wat van al die liedjes verdwenen en vervangen door ‘betere’ nieuwe. ‘Survival of the fittest’. Althans dat denken we nu. Het wordt een bondige plaat. Korte liedjes, to the point, en ditto teksten. ‘Singles en meer’ ha, ha… Dat zou de titel moeten worden, mochten we toch een Nederlandstalige plaat blijken te maken… Ehm… Nee. Dat gaat hem niet worden! Wat wordt het wel? Het wordt een plaat die staat voor waar we nu staan.
Singles only!? Ha, ha, prima. Zo lang het ook maar een heel goed album wordt! Het liefst het beste album tot nu toe. En we voelen ons heel goed.

En we voelen ons ‘ROCK’ ha, ha…

SINGLES ONLY!? (logg book part 1, 19 juni 2009, 09:09 uur)

Ok. We’ve got one official gig left tomorrow and then it’s off to studioland again. Performing is real fun this year, but the real feedbackmoment turn out to be the albums I think… We’ll start recording of the most part of album nummero 5. Just about a year ago EVERYTHINGYOUWANT was released and honestly we just wanted to keep recording. Which isn’t possible offcours, there’s always the promo’s & livegigs to do that we got on our agenda at the time of such a release. And everybody needs some time off at home also. You’re on the road a lot for a New album and for EVERYTHINGYOUWANT we were on the road nearly two years.

The New album will be the opposite. We’ll be doing things right here. With the people we work with here and everything we’ve learned in the past 10 years (amazing to see the party on HYVES is such a succes!!!).
To go short, the band you see on stage is the band you see off stage, the one you will hear on the album. And it’s the team that supports us which is very steady (AT, UNIVERSAL & our crew). Feels amazing having everybody close to us.

And then the record. Does everything revolve around the singles in 2009? Yes, I think so. Check Itunes and you’ll notice that with each album the singles by far are being downloaded the most. Listen to the radio and you will only hear singles, and these days only the ones that fit into the radiostations format as well. Singles, singles, singles. You’re being judged on your singles. And singles as downloads. Singles in shops are not to be found these days. Maybe we’ll release a single. Just ‘cause it’s fun….

We need singles then… And that just might happen (we’ll have to wait on UNIVERSAL for that). I want to inform you we’ll be making a whole album ha, ha. You have been warned! No just kidding. I’m pro, but also pro albums. I’m pro MP3’s, but even more a fan of good sound quality. So downloads are fine, but if you’re looking for the real deal, you should buy the album though! We hope you do, because that’s what albums anno 2009 really need…buyers.

I’m going off-topic. Never mind, I’ll keep on doing so during the next weeks when we’re in the recordingstudio. I’ll be keeping a sort of logg book on KANE.NL. It’s great the HYVES is having a flashback, but on KANE.NL we’ll be looking to the future as this is my most prefered position of all ha, ha.

I was talking about the New album. We’ve started half a year ago with the songs we already had. Enough to create a New album with, but not enough to stop there. A few people of our entourage mentioned; ‘this is a time-line, this is a New start’. And it is. The search for inspiration and moments started again. Now we’ve been working on it for a while we’ve replaced a few songs with ‘beter’ songs. ‘Survival of the fittest’. Or so we think at this point. It will be a short album. Short songs, to the point, and ditto lyrics. ‘Singles and more’ ha, ha… That should be the albumtitel, in case we should make a Dutch album… Ehm… No. That’s not going to be it! What it will be? It will be an album that stands for what we are at this moment.

Singles only!? Ha, ha, fine. As long as it’ll be a very good album! The best one we’ve made ever. And we’re feeling amazing. And we’re feeling ‘ROCK’ ha, ha…
